What are the advantages of the doseBadge Noise Dosimeter?
The doseBadge Noise Dosimeter has been designed to meet a very specific application. That is to help you measure the noise exposure of employees who are moving around, driving vehicles or working in environments where it is not possible to measure the noise using a sound level meter.
The doseBadge has been updated and enhanced with new features added whilst maintaining the advantages that have made it so successful and popular with users worldwide.
The doseBadge is designed, manufactured and supported by Cirrus from our factory in the UK.
Small and lightweight
The doseBadge weighs only 51g (1.8oz) in the CR:110A and CR:110A/BLK versions making it easy for users to wear across an entire day. The small size and lack of buttons and display means that there is very little chance of the doseBadge being tampered with.
Robust and very strong
The delicate parts of any noise measurement instrument are the microphone capsule and the electronics which measure and store your noise data. The doseBadge used a metal case which completely contains the microphone capsule, the battery and the electronics.
This case is very strong by design and ensures that if the doseBadge is dropped or knocked, it will not affect the integrity of the internal components.
The CR:110A and CR:110A/BLK versions use a case that is case from an aluminium alloy which is then treated and coated with a nickel finish to ensure that it can survive the toughest environments.
The CR:110AIS Intrinsically Safe version of the doseBadge uses a case that is cast from a brass alloy and is then coated using a very thin film of gold. Gold is a very inert metal and allows this version of the doseBadge to carry Intrinsic Safety approvals to ATEX, EEx, IECEx, FM and SIMTARS.
The doseBadge is used in wide range of applications where there is a risk of damage. For example, the doseBadge is used in shipyards where large automated welding machines are used to join the sections of the ships hull together. During this welding process, hot metal fragments are showered into the surrounding area. When the noise exposure measurements are being made, the doseBadge can often be impacted by these hot metal fragments and some may even become embedded into the case. The doseBadge is unaffected and continues to operate as designed.
Simple to use
The doseBadge was designed from the start to be as simple to use as possible. By removing any controls of displays from the doseBadge itself, the person wearing the unit cannot start or stop the measurement or see what the noise levels are. This can dramatically reduce tampering and help to ensure that your measurements are as useful as possible.
The Reader unit uses a simple set of steps to start a measurement and the keys buttons are clearly labelled so there’s no confusion or risk of missing a step:
1. Reset – This clears the memory of the doseBadge and programs it ready for use. The clock is set ready for the next measurement
2. Calibrate – This calibrates the doseBadge so that the measured noise levels are accurate. This is an automatic process with no adjustments needed
3. Run – This starts the doseBadge which is now measuring and storing noise levels
4. Stop – At the end of the measurement, this stops the doseBadge which can be removed from the person wearing it.
5. Read – This downloads the data from the doseBadge into the Reader. The Reader now displays the measurement data and stores it ready for download into the dBLink3 software.
Expandable to meet your needs
You can start using the doseBadge system with a single doseBadge (any version), Reader unit and a charger. To expand your doseBadge system, simply add more doseBadges of any type.
The standard doseBadge charger (CU:110A) can charge 5 doseBadges at a time. If you need to charge more than 5 doseBadges, add a second charger and link them together using the supplied cable.
Licence free software
The doseBadge is supplied with the dBLink3 software which allows measurements to be downloaded from the Reader unit using a simple USB connection.
The dBLink3 software is supplied free from any installation or licencing restrictions and can be installed onto as many PC as required. The latest version can be downloaded, free of charge, from the Cirrus website at any time. As and when new software for the doseBadge is released, you can download it and get the very latest functions and features, free of charge.
Different versions for different applications
To allow you to meet the demands of your application and environment, there are different versions of the doseBadge. Each has all of the unique advantages of the doseBadge design but with their own additional features.
The CR:110A is the standard version of the doseBadge with a silver case.
The CR:110A/BLK is the doseBadge with a Black case. This is ideal for law enforcement and musicians where a discrete noise dosimeter is essential.
The CR:110AIS is the Intrinsically Safe version with approvals to ATEX, EEx, IECEx, FM and SIMTARS.
